What is mindfulness? When, where and how is it practiced? Can it help me? Could it help my students, my colleagues, my friends, or even my family? Why do I keep seeing the word mindfulness on my social media feeds, hearing about it on NPR, and reading about it through the American School Counselor Association? It is time to find out for myself.
These are all questions I aimed to answer through my graduate course Mindfulness in the Classroom through Eduspire (Wilson College).
This section of the website details my personal journey through a month-long graduate course focused on mindfulness and education.

WEEK 1: I spent hours online researching, reading articles and looking over some smart phone apps on mindfulness, as it relates to me and my work as a high school counselor. I was directed to a few by my instructor and some are from my own findings. Here is where i started:

WEEK 2 -3: I started trying mindful exercises for myself as soon as I was able to define it. I realized I had already dabbled in mindfulness but never had placed true definition on it. Below, you can read my initial reactions. Perhaps it will inspire you to give Mindfulness a try.
WEEK 4: I compiled a list of resources, most of which are taken from my classmates that can be a useful repository of information for various aged students and various types of educators. See list here: docs.google.com/document/d/1W4p84hYr6G7HxAG2eDGyFTdoEV15i-nxp1DZGQXp_NI/edit?usp=sharing
Finally, I've also detailed a my own suggestions for implementing mindfulness for your own personal health and also in work with students in grades 9-12 - See suggestions under 'Mindfulness: How to Get Started.
